Students in this workshop will master core academic subjects through the dynamic, fast-paced lens of social media. The lab is divided into two parts: Lecture & Lab. The first 6-weeks, students dive into the science and art behind what makes content explode online. We will analyze real-world viral trends to uncover the psychology of human behavior, the math behind algorithms and exponential growth, and the history of information revolutions. Students will also dissect popular media to master ELA concepts like persuasion, rhetoric, and compelling narrative structure.
During the lab portion of the program, students put theory into practice. They will craft their own digital narratives, harness skills in video production and photography, and analyze social media data and statistics to optimize their reach—all while navigating the ethics of the modern attention economy. The best part? Students leave the workshop with a strategic portfolio of original digital content! Not interested in your student posting to social media? NO PROBLEM! They will have an opportunity to dive into the lab portion through testing their creations on innovatED Education social media platforms to protect their anonymity . . . student safety and wellness is my top priority!
